Top, bottom, it's ALL good. I love how Wendy sings thang. That bridge is my favorite part of the song, so so fine. It's so interesting how different people "hear" different lyrics...I liked this one and couldn't find the music, but I knew it was there. Hearing this, I think Duh! Why couldn't I hear that? It needed Wendy. I think a lot of us are finding really good matches on this exercise! Maybe it will help us all look at lyrics just a bit differently...those of us who write music might now be looking with just a little more of a gleam in our eyes, wondering hmmm, is this a good one for me, or for someone else...? Great great collab!

Hi again Mike,
Didn't want you to feel left out over here since you were kind enough to post twice. So let me do you the same for you ....Trying to sneak in a quick post before kids get in (they're late !).... First of all, I won't speak on Wendy's behalf....I'll just echo your comments: she sounds exquisite!! As for my lyric, I'm so glad you enjoyed it. This is actually one of my favorites, and I was so happy when Wendy offered to musicate it for me. And with such a great result!! How lucky am I??? I also appreciate the intuitive and comprehensive approach you take to giving feedback -- I'm always thinking, "What? I did THAT? Cool!!" Finally, I am thrilled you're going to put this on your playlist -- and at the top, no less! I think it would be fair to say WE are honored! I'm sure it'll love the view! Thank you again for listening and commenting so kindly. Cheers, Beth

Hi again Calvin, Thanks a lot for taking the time to post another groovy response over here. I'm sure Wendy appreciates your choice of adjectives as much as I do: very pretty/sad/coolThe tenderness quotient is strictly Wendy's territory though!! Her voice is magical.... See ya around... Beth

Looks like Beth has cornered the market of sad love songs and Wendy gave it her best sad love song voice. Oh Ricki, Ricki, Ricki.... How well you know me !!!! And thank goodness for Wendy! If it weren't for her (and you for that matter), bringing them to life, my sad songs would just be eating me up inside.... Sniffle, sniffle, I'm hoping to post a goofy tune soon....but not til I'm thru crying---OH WOE IS ME!! Seriously, thanks for such a sweet post. You know how I feel about what your talent, so accordingly, your accolades mean all the more.... Have a good one! Beth

Hi Letha, FINALLY, another cry-baby like me!! Absolutely the lyrics are meant to tug at the heart strings, but Wendy's performance just rips them to shreds!! I'm so pleased she was inspired to work on this one -- and that everyone has been able to experience the incredible musication she came up with. Thank you so much Letha for your very generous and emotional comments. I've been waiting for someone like you to come along ! (Should I clarify that??? ) Seriously, I'm thrilled you enjoyed it -- and thanks for sharing in the tears.... Have wonderful day, Beth

Hi Randy - thanks for your kind words - It's funny that you made the above typo because that's what I kept singing by mistake! - so I had to give myself a slap

Top, bottom, it's ALL good....I liked this one and couldn't find the music, but I knew it was there..... Why couldn't I hear that? It needed Wendy.....Great great collab! Hey Mark, I picked out a couple of my favorite comments you made about "A Million Tears Ago"....and I love 'em all. THANK YOU. I think the most intuitive remark you made, though, was that this lyric basically "needed Wendy" to bring it to life. And I agree!! As much as we've been doing different versions of the same song, it does appear certain lyrics immediately speak to certain musician -- and I'm so grateful this one spoke to Wendy. And yes, these challenges have been a rewarding experience on all fronts. So thanks for help kicking these off -- this one in particular of course!! Have a good night, Beth

My attempt at musication of Rick Maines' beautiful lyrics. I wrote the music yesterday. The recording could be better, but I've already kicked this horse quite a bit. On with the song! Probably best with headphones. http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7546197Ever Never © 2009 Rick Maines/Barry Crannell ASCAPI was only six years old, and Hickman school was down the road, and Daddy walked there side by side with me. He paused there at the four-way stop, and waited for me to get across. Every step I took, I looked to see if he was watching out for me. I never dreamed he'd ever never be. Freshman year was kinda tough, but Becky was my one true love. I'd wait all day long to hold her hand. Walked her home from school most days, but one day God just couldn't wait, and Mom was there to help me understand. Said she was always there for me. I never dreamed she'd ever never be. I had a dream the other night, I made it to the other side, Mom and Dad were there to welcome me. I'd never dreamed they'd ever never be. Winters come and winters go, but one year it was bitter cold, and Mom and Dad met Jesus in their sleep. We buried them and shared some words, shared some food, and shared the hurt, Talked about our favorite memories of life and love and everything we never dreamed they'd ever never be. I had a dream the other night, I made it to the other side, Mom and Dad were there to welcome me. I'd never dreamed they'd ever never be. I never ever dreamed, they'd ever never be.

HI Rick and Barry
ThIS IS a beautiful song -- so well written Lyrically and musically..
I DO think that you should consider doing it
V V V music break B section just Once <<<<< having it twice (before the final verse in particular) makes me say this.
No matter - it's great - nice work and match jm

Thanks, jm. Once again, Barry worked magic with this. I love the way it's turned out. It'll be a blessing to me for some time, especially since there's a story behind it. I'm sure we'll be working more on it. I know Barry has a couple of ideas too. Thanks again.

Thanks - any thoughts from you (or Tom) about LLS?

A Million Tears Ago - Wendy D\Beth G. Williams Loud and Clear Tonight - John Hoffman\Joice Marie Ever Never - Rick Maines\Barry Crannell Wow! Wendy, you have the sweetest sounding voice! I may have to press you into service on one of my lyrics. Barry, as you know I have two of your CDs. You are an amazing writer and composer. If you don't record another CD with YOU doing all the singing, you're cheating the world out of something wonderful. Joice, this is one of your nicer vocal performances (among many) . I also love the instrumentation. Beth, John and Rick, your lyrics kick major booty! Fine job, all around. I'm thrilled to know you. Greg

Okay here's Calvin Stewart's "Catwalk Candy". It's a bit too ambitious for me to mix easily...it's gonna take a few more passes before I get everything coming through clearly. But whatever....let's hit the dancefloor! http://soundclick.com/share?songid=7557143Catwalk CandySoft leathers Pink feathers Catwalk Candy Open blouse Crowded house Catwalk Candy A sweet piece of sugar But she's only there to view Don't expect me to share My, Candy with you Catwalk Candy, lookin' fine Catwalk Candy, she's all mine Rockin' hips Puffy lips Catwalk Candy You would melt If you felt Catwalk Candy A sweet piece of sugar But she's only there to view Don't expect me to share My, Candy with you Catwalk Candy, lookin' fine Catwalk Candy, she's all mine Every man would love her Half the women too Tell me Mr. Preacher man How bout' you Would you like a taste of my Candy? Heaven's To Betsy! This was hands-down the most entertaining song I've heard in a long, long time!!! Lyrics terrif, musication phenomenal, LOVED the addition of the female vocal... you guys (and gal) really pulled this one off (hee hee hee) big time! FLAVOR-wise, it reminded me a bit of Squeeze, the B-52's, and well, Calvin & Mark (BTW, I'm really digging your new avatar, Mark. You have sort of a Jim Morrison, Justin Timberlake, Charles Manson thing going on -- sexy!! ) Are you two prepared to top this number somehow??? Beth

Pink feathers!!
Thanks y'all! The oddball vocals were from my wife and both daughters and I, just being weird in front of a mic last night for about 10 minutes. We were laughing our heads off! You should hear some of the outtakes. Later on I cut and pasted the bits that worked.
This one is going to be really hard to mix right...so much going on.

... whoever thought of this, "They're not staring enough!" is responsible for this, !!! Haha! Yes, that would be the brilliant young Madeline Kaufman, he said, beaming proudly, like a dad. The "I'm so hot" voice is the dazzling young Lucy Kaufman, and the "So perky they make me sick" voice is the vivacious heartthrob Teresa Wlaschin. Thanks Randy!
